SPONSORSHIP worth £4,000 is enabling Worcestershire Wildlife Trust to plant a new generation of oak trees in Longdon.
Aquila Networks is providing the cash, which the trust will use to plant acorns from veteran trees to ensure their continuity at Longdon Marsh.
The existing trees, which range from 200 to 700 years old, are ideal hosts for wildlife such as invertebrates, lichens and fungi.
The scheme is part of a wetlands restoration scheme currently taking place at Longdon Marsh, to lure back breeding waders and farmland birds such as lapwings, redshanks, skylarks and yellowhammers.
