AROUND 80 Colwall residents made their way to the village library on Saturday to see the opening of its new £100,000 extension.
The Millennium Room, paid for by fund-raising by villagers, grants from charitable organisations and Herefordshire Council, was formally opened by parish rector, Rev Carl Attwood.
Nicky Carless, one of the trustees of the facility and chairman of Colwall Parish Council, said villagers who came to see the opening were impressed with what they saw.
"They were delighted with it," she said.
"Everyone was keen to have a look, and they were very pleased with the building. The architects have done a great job."
The room contains Internet-ready computers, local history archives and will act as a focal point for community activities. It was originally selected as the best way to celebrate the new millennium by a poll of residents.
