UPTON Ladies played Pershore in a friendly 'away' match at MGC in glorious sunshine and the game started brightly with both teams playing a good passing style.

With Martha Recordon, Trudy Warner and Sylvia Gillham controlling the midfield the pressure began to tell. Sally Loynes scored the first with a fine reverse stick strike past the Pershore keeper.
Martha Recordon's running paid dividends after driving into the D and firing the ball into the goal. Charlotte Underwood combined well with Sally Loynes to ensure that Pershore were never able to relax in defence.
Despite a change of personnel at half time Upton were soon scoring again. Having won a short corner Rachel Barber's return pass was put into the net by Vanessa Dawe.
Pershore kept trying to put the pressure on the Upton defence but Vicky Lannie, Jacky Farley and Rachel Slater combined well to keep Pershore out.
Upton's fourth goal was scored by Anita Sherwood, her first for the club. Anita's excellent position on the right post enabling her to place Rachel Barber's cross past the Pershore keeper.
Pershore scored their only goal of the match with a well taken short corner.
Janet Goodier and Anita Sherwood caused Pershore difficulty on the right and helped player of the match Martha Recordon to score her second goal, again driving into the D and shooting accurately.
The previous Saturday at Harborne Upton only lost 3-2 despite being a player short. Vennessa Dawe and Trudy Warner were on target for Upton.
