THE West End show that won this year's Laurence Olivier Awards Best New Comedy is coming to Malvern.

Stones in his Pockets recently celebrated its third year on the London stage and its visit to Malvern for a run from November 11 marks the start of a long-awaited national and international tour.

Set in an Irish village in County Kerry, Stones in his Pockets tells the story of what happens when a Hollywood film crew moves in.

Through the eyes of extras, Charlie Conlon and Jake Quinn, we are introduced to 15 different roles including a spoilt American starlet, a director and the last remaining extra from The Quiet Man.

The script is partly based on playwright Marie Jones' acting roles in films set in Ireland and all the roles are played by a cast of two, Malcolm Adams and Hugh Lee.

Adams returned to Dublin after a break from his performance in the one-man play Harry's Christmas, written by Steven Berkoff. Other theatre credits include Macbeth for Second Age and The Suicide for Stephen Gale as well as a host of other performances throughout America.

Lee has performed with the RSC in The Two Gentlemen of Verona in the West End as well as a host of other plays including A Midsummer Night's Dream and Emma.

Marie Jones was born in Belfast and was writer in residence for Charabanc Theatre Company from 1983 to 1990. Her work includes The Hamster Wheel and Fighting with Shadows, both of which were screened on BBC TV.

Stones in his Pockets runs until Saturday November 16.

Tickets £16 to £22 from 01684 892277 or www.malvern-theatres.co.uk. Matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.
