HEAVY overnight frost, the first of the season and torrential rain made conditions difficult for Malvern Angling Club's trip to the River Wye at Symonds Yat.
Although most members struggled for bites, those who used old fashioned bread for bait found that chub still can't resist it with the top three weights all using bread.
Richard Webster won the contest with an all chub catch weighing 9lb 9oz. Club treasurer John Shaw again made the frame with two outstanding chub, the best weighing 4lb 8oz for second place with 8lb 10oz. Dave Harris completed the weights with a single chub of 2lb 8oz.
