LEE Ayres and Andy Ducros may have different roles to perform for Kidderminster Harriers but their targets are the same.

That's to be among the first names on manager Ian Britton's mind when he's writing out his team sheet.

Because of injuries to other players, the Aggborough duo have been drafted into the starting line-up recently -- and both have made a major impact.

Twenty-year-old central defender Ayres was called up to play against Exeter City and celebrated by scoring twice in a thrilling 4-3 win.

Midfielder Ducros, who will be 25 later this month, got his chance last Saturday in a 1-1 home draw with Darlington and produced a man-of-the-match display.

Both players now hope to have further opportunities to impress and secure a regular spot in the line-up.

Ayres said: "It's up to me to show that I should be in the team.

"My Aggborough contract is up at the end of the season and my short-term goal is to do well enough to earn another one."

Ducros, a record £80,000 signing from Nuneaton Borough a couple of years ago, struggled to make his mark last season because of injuries and an uphill battle to maintain match fitness.

The Evesham-born campaigner said: "A big part of my game is pulling things together in midfield and linking with the forwards and creating chances.

"I like that position. I think it's my strength to bring other people into the game. I like to create chances for others and to create chances for myself.

"We can't be to unhappy with the start to the season. We've lost just once and when you look at the four draws we have had we definitely could have won two of them."
