DAVE Twigg won Malvern Angling Club's club cup fished on the River Avon at Birlingham.
Conditions were perfect for the match but for some reason it did not fish well with most anglers struggling for a bite. In very deep water Dave used pole tactics, fishing at a depth of 14 feet and caught mainly perch to win with a modest 3lbs 8oz.
Ian Goddard came second, he used the feeder and also caught perch to weigh in at 2lbs 9oz. There was a dead heat for third place with Dave Harris taking 2lbs 4oz using the pole and Chris Loveridge using the feeder to land the same weight.
Meanwhile back on the River Severn Steve Davies leads the field halfway through the Sandford midweek series with 13 points. Followed by Paul Bick with 10, Ian Goddard with nine and John Barr with six with three matches left to fish.
