WORCESTERSHIRE skipper Graeme Hick's season is over after breaking his left thumb in the current match against Derbyshire at New Road.
The fracture was confirmed yesterday following an X-ray.
Worcestershire's Director of Cricket Tom Moody said: "He did it on Wednesday diving for a catch, but he didn't realise it was that badly damaged. He came off, got it iced but on Wednesday night it just started to ache like a typical break. An X-ray confirmed the break yesterday morning."
Worcestershire wind up their season with a Norwich Union Division One match against Leiecester at New Road on Sunday (12pm).
