Council, the chairman, the Rev C Stockdale, mentioned an outbreak of scarlet fever at Stoke Pound where the inspector said four people were removed to the Infectious Hospital without notification being sent to him from the doctor.
The chairman said Dr Rowlands had sent the notice to Droitwich Spa in error but the medical officer there said he had had no notification.
ASTON Fields vicar, the Rev G T Fieldwick, has reported smells coming from certain manholes in the village which had worsened since a cutback in the supply of water. The town council suggested they should be flushed out three times a week.
MATTHEW Jones, of The Shoulder of Mutton Inn, Bromsgrove, applied for an extension of an hour -- the occasion being a smoking concert to celebrate the return of Private Barratt, who was invalided home from the war in South Africa. Bromsgrove magistrates were of the opinion that 11pm was quite late enough and refused the application.
GROOM Edwin Croome, of Finstall, was charged with not driving on the right side of the road when passing cyclists at Claines, in Worcester.
At Worcester City Court it was reported the defendant seemed to deliberately cross the road forcing Mr Kilbourne Day and his three children, who were heading towards Droitwich Spa, into the gutter.
Mr Croome turned around in his seat and laughed at them. He was fined £1 and ordered to pay 15s 6d costs.

Green, made a presentation to Frances Dingley in recognition of her 45 years service to both the church and parishioners. Ill health has recently compelled Mrs Dingley to take a well-earned rest. She was wished a speedy recovery and presented with an illuminated address and a cheque from 70 subscribers.
ASPIRANTS to the amateur stage fame had their big chance at Bromsgrove Parish Church Hall. Bromsgrove's Society of Arts paused in its serious business of presenting an evening of comedy and drama to stage a light-heated interlude of I Want to be An Actor. Four candidates were chosen by audience applause to portray the drama Wild Doings at the Windmill.
AFTER its successful season last winter, Barnt Green Chess Club would resume next week at St Andrew's Hall. Chess was a game which seemed to have been neglected in the Bromsgrove area which should be able to support several teams.
THE committee at Barnsley Hall Hospital for nervous and mental diseases arranged for the hospital to be opened to the public from 2.30pm on October 14. All those interested were invited to attend so they could gain an insight into the work being carried out. But it said under no circumstances would children be admitted.
THE minister for planning dismissed the appeal of Mr J Stanton, Rock Cottages, Finstall, against the refusal of Bromsgrove Urban District Council to allow him to develop a cafe in a large wooden building adjoining his house. The site was deemed unsuitable owing to the speed of passing traffic and restricted visibility in both directions which would give rise to danger.

A price survey was put into action this week.
Working in conjunction with local voluntary associations, the town's information centre provided the guide comparing the prices of major stores in Bromsgrove. Bromsgrove District Council's policy and resources committee decided to make an application to consider the project to the Department of Prices and Consumer Protection.
WILLIAM Weaver Ltd was appointed the main contractor for the construction of the new teaching block at St Richard de Wyche School, in Droitwich Spa. The contract was valued at £171,000.
REDNAL residents, concerned over the state of the village, demanded action be taken to clear the area near the present number 62 bus terminal -- the old tram turnaround. They claimed the land was nothing but a disgrace and had been allowed to go to waste. Residents were are also concerned about law and order and wanted a policeman stationed in the village.
DODDERHILL Parish Council appealed to people to wait until November 5 before adding paper to the bonfire, traditionally built by children on the grass recreation area, in Wychbold. Mrs E M Baxter said while she still wanted to see young people have a bonfire, in previous years paper had been added to the fire in October and had been blown all over the village by strong winds. She was also concerned about the danger to children.
