A 23-YEAR-OLD Worcester man stole two gift-packs of deodorant after his brother told him to "clean up" if he wanted to date a girl he fancied.
James Gibson grabbed two packs of Lynx deodorants, valued at £8.14, from Kwik Save in Angel Place, stuffed them in his jacket and walked out, Worcester magistrates heard.
"It was a Saturday morning just before 11am," said Mark Soper, prosecuting yesterday.
"He took two items, put them under his jacket without making any payment.
"He was detained by three members of staff because of the resistance he put forward, and then the police were called."
Gibson, from Lansdowne Road, Rainbow Hill, admitted the theft on Saturday, October 26.
Barry Newton, defending, said Gibson had taken the goods because he had no cash.
"He took the deodorants because he had no money and had met a young lady," he said.
"He had been told by his brother that he ought to tidy-up his personal hygiene."
The case was adjourned until Monday, November 4 for sentencing.
