PEOPLE in Tolladine are the focus of a multi-agency project tomorrow aimed at giving them a lifestyle make-over.
People over 50 in the area are invited to attend a day-long pilot session of workshops and advice to keep them fit and healthy.
"We're trying to bring all of the agencies together under one roof to try and publicise things such as doctors surgeries," said Allan Poyner, community worker at the centre.
"There will be a health visitor coming to do things such as checking for high blood pressure, checking weight and giving dietary information.
"The police and fire brigade are on board as well to give people advice.
"There will be workers from TRAIN, (Training, Re-education and Information Network) on hand to tell people about courses that are available to them.
"It's the first one that has been held here and we're hoping that people will come along and it should be a huge success."
Alec Mackie, spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade, revealed there would be a home and kitchen safety discussion at the event.
"At the moment the brigade is involved in a national campaign to encourage people to make a home fire safety plan.
"It aims to make people think about a plan to get out of their homes alive in the event of a fire.
"I'm sure the speaker at this event will be encouraging people to make a plan and know how to get out alive if there is a fire in their home."
Other subjects being discussed at tomorrow's event include "planning your funeral", "keeping warm" and "holidays for the elderly".
"It's a bit of a pilot scheme really and if it's a success, we will be looking at extending them to other parts of the city and having another one here," added Mr Poyner.
