At a Parish Council meeting, the council took over responsibility for the Millennium Wood from the Millennium Wood Committee.
Mr Michael Neil, chairman of the committee, thanked everyone for contributing so generously and passed over the final amount of fund money of three bright new pennies. The chairman congratulated Mr Neil and all the many people who had worked so hard to achieve this beautiful and peaceful setting.
New signs have been erected in the village to ask people not to park in areas that could inhibit emergency vehicles getting to houses in Back Street and Keytes Lane.
Information has been received concerning the establishment of new speed limit signs and extending the limits at both ends of the village. It is hoped these will be in place by Christmas. Consideration is being given to the placing of an "interactive" sign. The council agreed to pay for the running costs of such a sign.
It is expected the new bus shelter will be in place by the middle of November and the council intends to hold an opening ceremony on Sunday, December 15.
The new regulations of the Freedom of Information act were discussed and it was resolved that the Council will adopt the Model Scheme for Local Councils.
