The funds of Bates Hill Methodist Church will benefit by £75 from a successful garden party last Saturday.
The grounds of the "Southcrest" placed at the disposal of the organisers by Ald. and Mrs Charles Terry made an ideal setting for the event.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Sir Ernest Canning, of Birmingham, who was supported by Lady Canning, who opened the fete, Ald. and Mrs Charles Terry, and the Rev T Bassett-Reed and Mrs Reed and Mr J W Wright (treasurer).
A brisk business was done at the stalls and sideshows.
