Old Silhillians II 1,

Badsey Ladies 3

AFTER a hesitant start, Badsey fought back to maintain their 100 per cent in Division Two of the Worces-tershire League.

It was quite a shock when Sils opened the scoring but it only served to jolt Badsey into life and they produced some of their best hockey of the season during the remainder of the half.

Swift passing soon opened up the opposition defence and Claire Jones equalised.

Fine individual skills by Lynne Townson then gave Badsey the lead and it was 3-1 at the break when Jones finished off a fine move involving Townson.

Badsey were unable to add to their tally in the second period but they were rarely troubled at the back as another good performance continued their fine start to the season.

Badsey face Kings Heath at Redditch RUFC on Saturday, starting at 10.30am.

Bretforton Ladies II 4,

Leominster 4

AFTER leading three times, Bretforton were indebted to a late leveller from Blanche Surman to take a point off the Cheltenham Severn League second division leaders.

Tracy Hodgkins gave the home side the lead following a shot from Amy Trotman but Leominster were quick to hit back.

However, Sandra Boswell, Sarah Bragg and Julie Hall combined to set up Hodgkins for a second to give Bretforton the half-time advantage.

A cruel deflection allowed the visitors to make it 2-2 before Surman thumped in a third to regain the lead.

The celebrations were short lived as the leaders quickly hit back before taking the lead for the first time.

Bretforton were now forced to dig in and their commitment paid off when Bragg and Sara Adams combined to make the space for Surman to fire in the most important goal of the day.

Trotman was voted player of the match and it's back to friendly action on Sunday at home to Great Alne.

Evesham 0,

Worcester Norton 2

IT WAS a match that Evesham's ladies had looked forward to from the start of the season - Worcester Norton II.

A good turnout of supporters on both sides knew it was going to be a tough match and so it proved as Worcester went ahead.

They then stretched the Evesham goalkeeper to her limit and some sensational saves kept the score at 1-0 until Norton scored a second before the break.

Some great play in midfield and some excellent runs up front could have seen Evesham pull level in the second half when only sheer determination kept the scoreline down.

The next match has a 4.30pm start when Camp Hill are the visitors on Saturday.

Training continues on Monday night between 7.30 and 9pm at Evesham High School.
