ALVECHURCH survived another cup scare before easing into the last 16 of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup at the weekend.
Two goals up and coasting against Continental Star at half time, Andy Hibbert's side did their best to make life exciting for their fans by shipping two goals before Keith Rostill missed a penalty in the second half.
The Rostill and Brett Fitzparick double act had given Church the lead and Fitzpatrick struck again in extra time along with Ross Knight to book a visit to either Fernhill County Sports or Cheslyn Hay in the next round.
And it was another rewarding day for the Lye Meadow side with league leaders Leamington dropping two points in a 0-0 draw with Highgate to stay four points ahead of Andy Hibbert's sixth placed side who have a game in hand.
The Lye Meadow last night rotated his squad against Handrahan Timbers, who are the visitors again on Saturday (ko 2.45pm) this time in the league.
Goalkeeper Andy Harper returned after chipping a bone in his leg but went off injured at half time.
