A 'STARTLING and revealing' new play exposing the sexual nature of the crime at the core of Hamlet is being staged at Birmingham Repertory Theatre next week.
Wrestling School Theatre Company presents Gertrude from Wednesday, November 6, until Saturday, November 9, featuring Victoria Wicks, who played Sally Smedley in Drop The Dead Donkey.
The play contains powerful, poetic language, provocative ideas and dark humour to build a compelling and erotic study of the sexuality and secrecy seething below the surface of the play.
Hamlet's reviled mother and her adulterous affair with Claudius are defended and they are depicted as lovers driven beyond reason.
Tickets cost £6 or £9.50 from the box office on 0121 236 4455.
