BROMSGROVE Rovers manager Gary Hackett praised the quality of his side goals after they brushed aside Stourport Swifts with a 4-1 win in the Dr Martens Cup last night.

The Western Division leaders wrapped up the tie with a first half Steve Frost brace and second half strikes from Paul Danks and Mark Clifton.

It was a sparkling display influenced by the impressive Fraser McHugh and Swifts had no answer to Rovers' pace and movement.

"The first 20 minutes was tight but after that we got our passing game going, played some good football and scored some excellent goals," said Hackett.

Swifts boss Dave Titterton admitted the result showed they still had plenty to work on.

"It was a good test on how far we've come and how for we've still got to go and the fact is we've still got a hell of long way to go," he said.

"It wasn't a 4-1 but we're on a learning curve and I've told the lads not to get despondent because we've got a big match on Saturday and we will take it from there."

Stewart Brighton's lethal left foot inspired Frost's first goal when his raking 40 yard crossfield pass picked out Mark Benbow who in turn whipped in a ball for the midfielder to head powerfully home after 22 minutes.

Frost added a second with a deft lob 10 minutes before the break with Brighton again the provider.

Malick Sall struck an opportunistic effort on 43 minutes to give Stourport a glimmer of hope but Danks' brilliant 30-yard chip four minutes into the second half effectively ended the contest.

Clifton added a fourth from close range on 61 minutes after Stourport failed to clear a McHugh free kick.
