EVESHAM Cricket Club and Henricians annual dinner and awards evening took place at the Waterside Hotel (Strollers).

Club captain Jon Gregory reported on a most successful season, particularly the efforts of the first team who were crowned Division Two champions of the Worcestershire County League.

There were many outstanding performances throughout the season with centuries being recorded by Nick Collins and Paul Jones.

Special mention was made of the contribution from ex-England and Worcestershire player, Neal Radford, who finished the season with a batting average of 298!

The first team Player of the Year award went to off spinner Quinn Jones, who took more than 70 wickets and was responsible for many of the victories against good batting sides.

Special mention was made about the importance of the youth section and the cricket club's main sponsor, Tim Davies of T & P Davies Scaffolding Limited, was on hand to present the awards what was a promising season for Evesham's young players.

Nicholas Powell and Will Lloyd represented Worcestershire Young Crick-eters in their respective age groups.

Further awards were given to young cricketers when Lloyd collected the second XI award for his outstanding bowling. He also achieved a league record by taking more than 40 wickets.

Under 12 - Batting: Nicholas Powell. Bowling: Robert Perry. Under 14 - Batting: Aaron Young. Bowling: Paul Langstone. Under 16 - Batting: Will Lloyd. Bowling: Matt Selby. Most Improved Player: Adam Perry.

Special mention was made of Matt Jackson and Steve Charlton for their contributions with the bat, both hitting two centuries each for the second team with Jackson just missing the league record by 50 runs.

Thomas Woodall collected the third XI award after producing impressive all- round performances.

Bob Shaw was presented with the Clubman of the Year Award, while a special award went to Gay Lloyd and Bev Selby for their excellent teas!

Craig Jennings of the Henricians gave a brief review of their season. Mark Allerton won the batting award, John Niblett the bowling and Mark Green was voted clubman of the year.

Richard Pedley received a special award for his all-round performances.
