A POT of £2.5m could be shared between the Greig Centre and Alcester Grammar School if Stratford Council's executive committee agrees to development plans next month.

The final plans have now been drawn up and if agreed by the committee on Monday, November 25, the grammar school could be in line for a new community sports hall costing about £1.4m and the Greig Centre could get a total revamp of about £1.1m.

After £7,000 was spent by the district council on a feasibility study drafting out the costs of the dual site approach, partnerships were formed between the grammar school, Greig Centre, Alcester Town Council, Stratford Council and Advantage Alcester.

The final plans are said to be similar to the original ideas set out in the summer, which include the relocation of the sports hall from the centre to a brand new hall at the grammar school.

Also planned was a refurbishment and conversion of the Greig sports hall to community meeting rooms and a major refurbishment of the main hall.
