WELFORD Ladies played their first WWIBA league game when they played Erdington Court at Rugby.
The game ended in an exciting win for the visitors with Joan Parfitt's team well ahead with a win of 31-8
Nan Wells' team were holding their own in a close game that went right up to the last wood.
At 14-14 they were holding shot when a well placed wood by the opposing skip took three shots to make. The final overall score gave Welford the match by 20 shots and four points.
Welford ladies were again successful a few days later when, in the preliminary round of the Yetton, they were drawn against Erdington Court.
Playing two teams at home and two at Erdington, Welford came off the overall winners by 42 shots.
The home team led by Liz Chedgzoy against Barbara Sparkes and Maria Rosso against Jean Goodman won 28-10 and 38-7 respectively to give a healthy cushion to the away team of Viv Hall against Jean Smith (29-12) and Yvonne Pick against Joan Garner (6-25).
Welford next play City of Coventry Ladies, November 7.

WELFORD won on all six rinks, the top one of which won 23-12 and was skipped by Carole Simmons with S Easton, R Lawrence and J Whitehead.

A WIN by 57 shots with Welford winning on five of the six rinks.
The star of the weekend was Simmons who boasted the highest winning rink on both Saturday and Sunday, a rink that included J Hart, D Washboune and B Mumford (36-14).
