EMERGENCY services were called to two road accidents in the Evesham area within the space of half-an-hour which brought traffic chaos to the area.
In the first, last Thursday, on the A44 at the junction with Haselor Lane, near Charlton, at 4.30pm, a car was involved in a collision with a cyclist.
The cyclist suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where his condition was described as stable on Monday. Both the driver and the cyclist were from the Evesham area.
The second accident -- a collision between a red Ford Escort and a Ford Galaxy lorry -- happened at 4.53pm near Twyford services.
The drivers of the Galaxy and lorry were unhurt, but the elderly man and woman in the Escort were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.
Later, the man was discharged but the woman was detained and described as being in a stable condition on Monday.
A minor collision, involving a green Rover and a Volvo, happened in the queue of traffic that built up behind the major accident. Police have appealed for witnesses to the two major accidents.
