MUGS emblazoned with pictures of the Queen, the royal crest and "Ripple Parish" have been presented to a group of pupils at Upton-upon-Severn Primary School.

The mugs, which commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, were handed over by Ripple parish councillors on Wednesday, December 18.

The council commissioned them for all children aged 16 and under who live in Naunton, Holly Green and Ryall. Uckinghall and Ripple spent their portions of the cash set aside by the council for Jubilee celebrations on a joint party.

Coun Roger Sutton said the presentation had gone very well.

"It was splendid," he said. "The kids seemed to be pleased, although how much the young ones understood about what it was all about I don't know."

He added the mugs were intended to be keepsakes for a long time to come, possibly to be handed down from generation to generation.
