AN opportunity to learn a musical instrument and play in a successful group is being offered by Upton-upon-Severn Youth Band.
The band is staging a recruitment evening at Upton-upon-Severn Sports Club on January 9 between 6 and 9pm at which anyone between eight and 25 years old can come along and try out instruments to find one they would like to play.
No musical experience is needed - tuition and instruments can be supplied.
"We have a good social life as well as local performances and competitions," said spokesman Nicki Taha.
"Throughout the year we hold parties at Christmas, ten-pin bowling outings, and barbecues with games such as rounders."
She added that the band also travels to weekend band camps with marching practice, games and video evenings and "more cake than you can eat!"
The band also spends a week at Pontins every year learning from leading musicians, and has travelled to Paris to play at Disneyland.
