SO here we are at the end of another year - don't they fly by!

For the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter, the year started with the award of Malvern Hills District Council's Platinum Award for Service Business Excellence.

Serving the community is what we should be all about and we hope readers feel we have done that in 2002.

Sometimes we work with the district council, as we hope to be next year in order to come up with some new ideas of revitalise Great Malvern town centre, and sometimes we have to take a more critical view, as we did over the future of Malvern Theatres.

Getting recognition for the importance of the theatre to the future of Malvern was probably our biggest achievement this year.

The big event of the year was the celebrations of the Queen's Golden Jubilee, a welcome reminder that community spirit is not dead, certainly not in this part of the world.

Let's see if we can't start the New Year by finding some more help to run the Malvern Young Engineers.

This marvellous club has won a hatful of awards and given countless youngsters real purpose and pleasure. There must be someone out there with the skills to keep it going.
