A TOTAL of 58 people have been arrested during the first week of a hard-hitting campaign by West Mercia Constabulary to clamp down on drink-drivers.
This Christmas, police enlisted the help of Ed Walsh, who has been in a wheelchair since being hit by a drunk driver 16 years ago, to remind motorists of the dangers of driving after drinking alcohol.
Sgt John Roberts, of the traffic and operations department, warned that it was using both high-profile marked and unmarked vehicles to catch motorists who break the law.
"Anybody who is stupid enough to indulge in this dangerous practice runs a higher risk than ever before that they will be caught," he said.
