Harriers started the second half on the offensive without seriously troubling keeper Barrett.
The Orient custodian did however have to come out smartly to save at the feet of Melligan after good work between Shilton and Henriksen.
In Orient's first threat of the second period the 10-man side took the lead through Ibehre's diving header from a Canham free-kick on the hour.
Harriers' boss Britton reacted immediately by bringing on Foster for goalscorer Bennett.
Orient had earlier made their first substitution just after half-time with Martin on for Brazier.
