I DISAGREE with the comments made about UCW expanding on to the old Infirmary site. I do not believe that the students cause damage to the city centre, far from it.

If the UCW expanded to the old Infirmary site it would see more sustainable development in a declining inner city areas such asThe Butts. This type of development would relieve pressures and conflicts experienced in the St John's area.

I find it ironical that the new hospital on the edge of the city has a lack of parking for its staff and visitors and causes major conflicts for the surrounding residents.

I'm sure the old infirmary site would be able to cope with student parking (if they can afford to run a car).

The city centre is more accessible by using the buses, so the students could live all over the city and come in rather than trying to get to an edge of a city site served by only one bus service.

The UCW moving on to that site would give the young university some history and large, distinguished buildings to develop. I think if planned and managed well, it could give the city something of which it could be proud.

If the proposals were to include a performing arts centre; maybe the Swan Theatre could get in on the proposals. This would benefit the rest of the community and tourists that come to Worcester.

Where is the money going to be found to build a new campus on the edge of the city?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy and develop the old infirmary, which has student nursing accommodation in it already and make good use of a brownfield site?
