EXCEPTIONALLY dedicated staff proved the recipe for success at a Rubery school, ranked number 20 in the county.

Holywell Primary School is celebrating after being placed 20th best in Worcestershire in government performance tables published recently. They are based on the percentage of 11-year old students reaching at least the minimum standards, set by the Government in core subjects of maths, English and science. The national targets stand at 75 per cent for maths and 80 per cent for English.

A whopping 98 per cent of pupils at the Gunner Lane school achieved the national standard of level 4 in Science, with 87 per cent getting top marks in English and 84 per cent in maths.

School spokeswoman Kay Cleeton said: "Holywell Primary School goes from strength to strength. The success of the school can be attributed to exceptionally dedicated staff, teaching and non-teaching, committed governors and supportive parents.

She went on to say the children worked incredibly hard to achieve the exceptional results and the school is very proud of its achievements.

"Since its inception as a new school in September Holywell has supported many community events and within the school itself the community ethos is developing well.

"Children and staff are proud of their school and are keen to develop further the many positive aspects of Holywell within the Rubery community," she added.
