THE December meeting was a celebration of the institute's 82nd birthday.
President Ann Thurrell opened the meeting and kept the business as brief as possible. Members from Hillside and Alvechurch institutes were welcomed, plus a few brave husbands.
Each Hopwood member had prepared a supper dish and everyone enjoyed a good variety of excellent food and wine.
After supper, an hilarious sketch was performed by three members followed by two amusing monologues.
Ann cut the cake made by Elizabeth Clement and the evening concluded with a beetle drive. She then presented everyone with a pot plant.
The next meeting will be at Hopwood Village Hall on January 2 when Gill Lungley will speak about the work of Alvechurch Parish Council.
Members will have an opportunity to air their views and ask questions.
New members welcome. For details, call 0121 4477668.
