COMBINING business with pleasure is not always the wisest thing to do - but for Stourport's Russell Hinton it is simply doing what comes naturally.

Mr Hinton is relishing partnering his role as the new chairman of Stourport Business Association with working at Mantons Jewellers in the town which he "has always loved".

The 29-year-old, who has lived in Stourport all his life, said taking up the position was an ideal way of keeping up to speed with the latest happenings in the town.

And when you combine that to his current roles as acting treasurer and secretary to the Stourport Carnival Committee and Stourport Rotary Club member, it is easy to see why he does not miss much in the town.

Mr Hinton, who along with his mother co-owns the family jewellery store where he has worked for 10 years, said: "I have always loved the town and will do anything for it - perhaps that explains why I am left with so little spare time!

"Yet even though I think I've got too much to do some of the time I still love getting involved with anything for the good of Stourport."

Mr Hinton, who married his partner Jane in November last year, said he wanted to find out what changes Stourport traders felt necessary throughout the town during his year as chairman of the business association.

He said: "I get the feeling some business owners tend to forget about the existence of the association when really it is alive and kicking.

"We are here to make improvements to the town and want businesses to come to us with their suggestions for how we can improve aspects of the town.

"Much progress has been made since the association formed about five years ago and it is important this continues."

He added: "There are important issues such as the possible Stourport Relief Road to consider.

"Now is the time for people, in particular town centre businesses, to make their views known."

When Mr Hinton does get time to put his feet up, he does exactly the opposite and enjoys a game of football or golf.

He said: "I have always been the sporty type and like it outdoors.

"It's nice to play football when I can for my two teams but unfortunately it often gets in the way on Saturday when the shop is open."

His Sunday side - Hartlebury Villagers - are top of their league.

However, he is also enjoying his time with Saturday team Rising Sun FC where he even finds time to fill the role as club treasurer.
