STOURPORT Swifts will have a new manager on board in time for Saturday's FA Trophy clash at Mangotsfield United.

Chairman Chris Reynolds is lining up a replacement for sacked player-boss Tim Langford and hopes to make an appointment by Friday at the latest.

Langford, who paid the price for Swifts poor start to the season which has seen them collect just two points to lie one off the bottom of the Dr Martens Western Division, is set to continue playing elsewhere.

The ex-Wycombe Wanderers striker has already had four offers but admits he was disappointed not to be given the chance to revive Swifts' fortunes.

"We finished a creditable eighth place last year after steadying the ship and I felt I could have turned it round," he said.

"It's disappointing because eight matches is not very long but it's not going to put me off."

Reynolds said the decision to axe Langford was solely down to results.

"I've got the greatest respect for Tim but at the end of the day the club needed a change to get things kick-started.

"We haven't had the influx of new players and things didn't seem to be going our way, although we weren't playing too badly."
