A MIDLAND man was found dead on train tracks near Droitwich Spa station, just after midnight on Saturday morning.

The 25 year-old local man was hit by Central Trains' 23:34 Kidderminster to Worcester train, which was empty.

Its driver reported hitting someone between Droitwich Spa Station and Chawson Crossing. The driver of the following train, the 23:00 hrs Birmingham New Street to Worcester Shrub Hill, checked the line and found the man's body 300 yards south of the station.

Officers from British Transport police and paramedics from Worcestershire ambulance service were alerted by station staff and recovered the body from the line. He had suffered fatal injuries.

The man has not been formally identified but his next of kin have been told. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
