A 25-year-old local man has been found dead on railway tracks near Droitwich Spa station.

The driver of the 11.34pm train from Kidderminster to Worcester Shrub Hill, which was empty, reported hitting a person between Droitwich station and Chawson Crossing.

After the report, the driver of the following train, the 11pm Birmingham New Street to Worcester Shrub Hill, checked the line and discovered the body of a man approximately 300yds south of the station.

Officers from British Transport Police and paramedics from Worcestershire Ambulance Service attended the scene and recovered the body. The man has suffered fatal injuries.

He has not yet been named, but his next of kin have been informed. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
