BEER lovers are toasting a return to the days of Spandau Ballet and Lady Diana with prices set to plummet at a Worcester watering hole.
The Postal Order, in Foregate Street, is offering Theakston's Best Bitter at 50p a pint, rolling back the cost of ale to 1981 prices.
Only 200 pints of the cut-price beer are on offer, on a first-come first-served basis, starting on Thursday, January 2.
"Department stores and shops hold their sales in January so I thought it would be a good idea to have one in the pub too," said Hayley Smithson, manager of The Postal Order.
"Given the choice of a trip to a sale in the shops or a sale in the pub, I think most people would choose us."
The pub, part of the JD Wetherspoon chain, is launching a three-week sale from January 2 until Thursday, January 23 with a range of cut-price offers, including glasses of house wine for just 99p.
The company is also currently expanding its outlets in Worcester, creating a £1.6m Lloyds No1 bar in Crown Passage.
