CAROL singers were found sadly lacking in festive spirit when they tried to steal a present from a Kidderminster house.
Two boys, aged 11 or 12, knocked on the door of a Habberley Road home and started singing when the occupant opened the door at 4pm on Saturday, December 21.
But when she turned her back to get them something they came into the house and one of the boys picked up a present from a hall table and placed it under his arm.
However, he gave it back when he was challenged by someone else in the house and the boys then left. They were seen going to other houses in the road.
Both boys were white; one was large and wore light clothes while the other was small.
A handbag containing bank cards and £20 cash was taken during what police have called "a sneak-in burglary" at a home in Trimpley.
A raider came in through an unlocked front door and took the bag from the kitchen while the occupier was at home between 7am and 10am on Saturday.
Anyone with information about either incident should call Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
