LEADING scorer Richard Ball added another two goals to his tally while Peter Sutton rattled in a glorious solo strike as Stourport Swifts bagged a 3-1 victory over Worcestershire neighbours Evesham United.

But it was a Dr Martens Western Division victory inspired from midfield where Simon Marsh produced an outstanding display in the ever-deepening Common Road mud.

Evesham skipper Nathan Jukes gave his side the perfect start when he thumped home a 20-yard effort after just five minutes.

Neil Illman and Scott Mullen also went close for the home side before Swifts levelled on 12 minutes when Sutton found the back of the net with a stunning 25-yard effort.

Three minutes later and Ball notched his first of the game, collecting a threaded pass from play-maker Marsh before placing his shot past keeper Chris Taylor.

Ball should have added a third a minute later but could only find the side-netting after taking the ball around Taylor following a clever one-two with Michael Moore that tore th e Evesham defence apart.

Mullen and Illman had chances for the home side but Swifts took an unlikely 3-1 lead into the break when Marsh again sent Ball clear and the former Oldbury United striker forced the ball home.

Two minutes into the second half, Evesham had defender Mark Wolsey sent off after he palmed out Moore's goal bound shot.

Ball looked certain to complete his hat-trick but managed to scuff the penalty wide.

As conditions worsened, chances became few and far between although Swifts substitute Andy Wright should have added his name to the scoresheet with two late chances.

On 73 minutes, seconds after replacing two-goal hero Ball, Wright's diving header flew just wide and he was then denied by a Taylor save seven minutes from time after taking advantage of a quick free-kick.
