DROITWICH Spa RFC First XV will be looking to start the New Year where they left off in 2002 with the visit of Berkswell and Balsall to the Glyn Mitchell Memorial Ground this Saturday.
Spa, who won their last two Midland Four West (South) fixtures of last year for the loss of just nine points, completed their December programme with a 2-16 home friendly victory against Evesham on Saturday, December 21.
Both sides saw the game as an ideal opportunity to try out some young players by throwing them into the first team environment.
Jamie Faulkener showed his class to score the first try and he doubled his tally shortly before half time.
Evesham hit back in the second period but Droitwich sealed the game when Jon Andrews surged over.
l The Seconds ended 2002 with a 15-8 win at Worcester Wanderers.
Steve Poke and Matt Nichol scored tries. Cottrell added a penalty.
