THE classic story of castaway Robinson Crusoe is being staged by Peopleton Players at the village hall until this Saturday.

Action switches from the safe harbour of Plymouth to a desert island, with the crew encountering pirates, among others, during their adventures.

They also come across the natives of a desert island, where the chief's daughter has a strong interest in men, although she is unable to hang on to any one of them, who happens to come her way, for any length of time.

They also have to contend with the dreaded Queen Neptune who can summon up a hurricane in the blink of an eye.

The pirates - led by Long John Copper - thwart the crew's efforts in their search for treasure.

During the course of one of the storms conjured up by Queen Neptune, the ship sinks and comes to rest in the Kingdom of King Neptune.

Evening performances are at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Tickets are available from the Old Off Licences, Main Street, Peopleton between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
