DEAR EDITOR - I wholeheartedly agree with the recent letter from Mr Jim Brant. Wychavon, and Droitwich in particular, have suffered at the hands of party politicians. Independent councillors free of party dogma are desperately needed, to curb the blinkered monopoly exercised by current post holders. The suggestion of an elected Mayor is an excellent safeguard, to reduce and balance the excess of decisions being swayed by party loyalties regardless of public opinion.
I urge Mr Brant and other civic minded fellows to petition for a Parish Poll as soon as possible, to empower the elected role of Mayor.
We need to have this valuable post available in time for the next local Government elections this coming May.
Let's do it folks for the Spa and it's ordinary people who should count.
