STUDENTS determined to succeed in the cut and thrust world of business have launched an ambitious company.

Sixth formers at Droitwich Spa High School, Briar Mill, have set up a business under the Young Enterprise Project.

The company, called Evolve, was formed by a group of year twelve pupils who produce and market their own products.

Managing director Chris Berry said: "I think this will be a fantastic experience. We aim to do better than the company that was set up last year and I know we will.

"We have some superbly talented and hard working people and simply brilliant products."

Evolve is already trading and has done brisk business at a number of events.

Students make and sell decorative products such as mirrors, jewellery and greeting cards.

"It obviously makes business sense for us to produce our own products but it is also preferable because of the wealth of creative talent we have on the team," added Chris.

In addition to selling at specialist events, such as school open evenings, the teenagers are selling goods during breaks and lunchtimes in school.

The Spa business is organised on the pattern of a limited company and is legally a branch of the charity Young Enterprise.

Shares in Evolve have been on sale and provide staff and students an opportunity to show their support for the company, and, possibly, make a small profit at the end of the year.
