AN appeal to restore the historic bells of Kidderminster's oldest church has passed its halfway mark.
Canon Owain Bell, of St Mary's Church, said the bid to overhaul the 12 bells, one of which dates back to 1754, is "going supremely well".
Nearly £90,000 has been raised since the appeal launch in April.
Fund-raisers are aiming for a target of £135,000 by the summer, and organisers are hopeful the bells will be re-cast by autumn.
Mr Bell said: "What has been good is the community spirit shown by people who are raising money for us."
