STRATFORD upon Avon and District English Music Festival is to be renamed the Stratford on Avon Music Festival.
Organiser Warwick Arts Society says the change has been introduced for simplicity because the old name is "quite a mouthful".
It is also the case that the festival, which this year runs from 10 to19 October, does not concentrate solely on English music.
The opening concert of this year's festival will feature soprano Emma Kirkby and Armonico Consort with the UK premiere of a recently discovered work by Francesco Scarlatti.
It will also feature music by English composer Sir Arnold Bax, who died 50 years ago in 1953.
For further information about the festival call the box office on 01926 496277.
