A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries after being in collision with a car in Malvern on New Year's Day.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident because the motorist involved failed stop.

The 22-year-old man, who lives in Malvern was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the accident on Clarence Road just after 6am.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening but PC Amanda Goose said he had a lucky escape.

"The vehicle involved, which may have been a Volkswagen, did not stop at the time of the collision," she said.

PC Goose would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who might have an idea of the identity of the driver who was involved.

An accident closed the B484 at Pershore for three hours following a multi-vehicle collision.

A white Mercedes van and a red Mazda pick-up truck were recovered following the collision at 8am yesterday.

Also involved were a green Ford Escort and a green Range Rover.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene and the road was reopened just after 10.30am.

The drivers of the vehicles were taken to hospital but none of their injuries is thought to be life-threatening.
