ONE of the men who raided two post offices and put one postmaster in hospital may have been injured during the attempted burglary.

Police said the postmaster who was injured in the raid on the Hallow Post Office, just after 5am yesterday, hit one of the offenders with a cricket bat.

Scuffle

"During the scuffle he hit out with a bat, trying to protect himself," said police spokeswoman Kim Stain.

"One of the offenders was struck in the upper half of his body and this probably left a bruise."

The injured postmaster was treated at Worcester Royal Hospital and the raiders, believed to be three white males in their late teens or early 20s, made off in a red Volvo.

Forty minutes later would-be robbers tried to smash down the door of the post office in Cutnall Green.

Upper body

"I am appealing to anyone who thinks they know someone matching the description of an injury to the upper body to contact me on 08457 444888," said Det Sgt Andy Price.
