A WORCESTER care home has been nominated for a healthy eating award.

Cranham Residential Care Home in Warndon was recommended for the Heartbeat Award by Worcester City Council.

Environmental health officers from the council make regular checks on the kitchens at the home, based on Cranham Drive, where three members of staff make around 45 meals a day.

"This is a nationally-recognised award given to caterers who demonstrate commitment to customer care through a healthier environment and healthier food choices," said Karen Robertson, manager of Cranham, which is owned by Heart of England Housing and Care.

The two cooks, Margaret Jones and Anne Hartland, and kitchen domestic, Georgina Blythe, not only provide top-quality meals for residents at the home, but also make meals for older people in the community.

Chris Haywood, bursar at the home, said: "I am so pleased for them, they really do deserve it. They work hard and it is a credit to their dedication."
