A WORCESTER church has applied for planning permission to keep a streetlight, put up originally to light its car park.

The Kingdom Hall, on Park Street, put up the 12ft lighting column in September to improve safety in the car park for people using the hall at night.

Neighbours have raised concerns about the level of lighting but the applicants have agreed to reduce the wattage of the light from 150 to 70 watts.

Planning officers from Worcester City Council believe this has resolved the objections and have recommended that the proposal be approved.

The planning committee will discuss the application when it meets on Thursday, January 9.
