A pedestrian was taken to hospital after a hit-and-run accident on Clarence Road, Malvern, at 6am on New Year's Day (January 1).

PC Amanda Goose is appealing for witnesses to the accident in which a 22-year-old local man sustained injuries to his head and leg. He was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Infirmary.

PC Goose said: "This man has had a lucky escape. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"The vehicle involved, which may have been a Volkswagen, did not stop at the time of the collision and I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or to the driver of the car involved."
