RICHARD Moger produced a hat-trick of tries as Bromyard Rugby Club hit back to secure a 22-18 when they entertained Upton in a North Midlands One match on Saturday.

Bromyard took the lead after 10 minutes when the ball was worked to the blind side where it was slipped through to full-back Richard Moger who ran through from 22 metres to score under the posts.

Former Upton player Piers Gaunt converted.

Within the next 30 minutes Upton built up a commanding lead.

First skipper Rob Heeley kicked a penalty and following some good driving mauls flanker Matt Bookham was on hand to score a try to give Upton the lead which Heeley in-creased with a conversion.

With Upton's forwards now dominant and scrum-half Tim Badger be-ing creative, Upton worked their way to the Bromyard 22 metres line where they released the ball to the backs.

They worked it down the line to left winger Tim Dodge who raced into the corner from 10 metres out

Heeley was unsuccessful with the conversion leaving the half time score 7-15

After the break Upton's lead was further increased when Heeley was on target with another penalty.

Bromyard managed to survive two more powerful drives from the Upton forwards when they stopped the moves on their line.

This seemed to lift Bromyard and soon Gaunt and Moger were putting their team back in the picture when first Moger raced through to score from 30 metres and Gaunt converted and shortly afterwards kicked a penalty to bring the scores to 17 -18.

With just five minutes remaining it should have been simple for Upton to keep the ball in the opposition half but more importantly keep it away from on-song Moger.

Legs were getting tired when Bromyard won a rare line-out. Gaunt fed Moger who collected his hat-trick of tries as once again he wove his magic to win the match for Bromyard.

Also in North Midlands One, lowly Stourport suffered a 9-12 defeat when they entertained second-in-the-table Veseyans.
