STOURPORT Swifts eased their relegation worries by easing 13 points clear of second from bottom Racing Club Warwick courtesy of a brace from striker Michael Moore to win 2-1 in the Dr Martens Western Division.

The former Moor Green and Redditch striker, starting just his second game in two months, celebrated in style, heading home an inch perfect Tim Nicholls cross in the 47th minute before bagging the points with a 35-yard scorcher 11 minutes later.

Having missed a first half penalty there was a Kinder surprise for the hosts when Adam Kinder pulled one back with seven minutes to go.

Stourport manager Dave Titterton's programme notes about an inability to finish off sides could have been prophetic as the hosts wobbled under belated Warwick pressure but Swifts held out.

The Walshes Meadow side should have taken the lead in the 20th minute when the grounded Steve Cooper was penalised for handball as Dave Davies tried to dribble round him.

Skipper Jan Mulders fired against the left hand post and Richard Ball, following up, was guilty of an even more astonishing miss, firing high and wide with the whole goal to aim at.

It was the first of at least five glaring misses for the hapless forward and Swifts almost paid the price when Kinder headed home Adam Beaman's cross to set up a tense finish.

Simon Marsh, Leon Blake and Ball had all come close for Stourport in the opening half against a Warwick side who came to defend but saw two left-backs injured in the first 34 minutes.

Andy Fitzpatrick was taken to hospital after a bad knee injury and, while the ambulance was pitch-side 20 minutes later, replacement Marcus French had to be helped off with a similar injury.
