ANDY Keast was delighted with Worcester Rugby Club's first victory of 2003 as the Warriors ran in 10 tries against Coventry.

The Sixways coach was particularly pleased with the first half display which killed off any hopes the visitors may have had of a shock win.

"If anyone had given us 10 tries against Coventry before kick-off, we would have taken that," he said.

"Coventry are a tough side to play against. Rotherham found that out and, considering the week off and the disruption that brings to preparation, I think the players can be pleased with their efforts. Things were a little patchy but we started both halves well and ended well. We played for 80 minutes and kept on going.

"We let in some sloppy tries but they came back well in the second half and the first half was particularly pleasing."

New loan signing Chris Catling enjoyed an impressive debut at full back and Keast believes there is more to come from the Gloucester player.

"Chris Catling is a quality player and similar to Duncan Roke," added Keast. "He understands the outside channel full back play and he hit angles well. I thought early on he really added to our game plan. It was lovely for him and nice to see him score a try because he made a few for others."

Keast gave a special mention for groundsman Derek Woodhall whose efforts made sure that the game took place after waterlogging during the week.

"The groundstaff have done a fantastic job. We obviously wanted to have good conditions. We got a nice cold, sunny day which helped but, fair play to the groundstaff, because they worked so hard in order that the game was on."
